Can be sprayed using an airless sprayer such as a Wagner or Graco ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 – 11 thou tip). Barrettine’s Wood Protective Treatment: - is a wood sealer for rough, sawn or smooth timber. It contains water repellent resins and a biocide film wood preserver to prevent the surface growth of mould/algae and together this helps reduce decay, swelling, twisting of wood. Pigments have good UV fade resistance and will help protect wood from UV damage.

Provides non-biocidal protection, nourishing the wood and repelling water ingress that can cause decay. Less protection is given than Barrettine Wood Preserver Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver is a high-quality, low odour, oil based wood preserver that is deep penetrating. Barrettine wood preserver is used for wood protection against wood-destroying fungi (wet rot), wood discolouring fungi and wood-boring insects. This wood preserver provides a semi-transparent matt/satin finish allowing the natural wood texture to be visible, it can be used on pressure-treated wood, treated timber or untreated wood. This high-quality wood treatment is suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, does not require over sealing for wood protection. No subsequent topcoat is required unless for aesthetic purposes. Barrettine Wood Preserver is for outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine Wood Preserver Clear can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. Areas affected by mould, algae or fungi should be cleaned with a stiff brush or scraper then treated with Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner No subsequent top coat product required unless for aesthetic purposes. The Barrettine clear wood preserver can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. Although the solvent content of this product can perish the washers and hoses of some spray systems, it can still be a time and cost effective way to treat large areas. We recommend that if using a spray system you try to complete the project in one day. This said however, depending on the type and brand of sprayer, it may take longer than this. Cleaning Equipment

The sprayer must be thoroughly cleaned after application with white spirit and then oiled to protect the tip and moving parts (as per manufacturer’s instructions). This product cannot be sprayed with a traditional pump action garden sprayer. For use on bare wood which will be over-coated, for example with Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment or opaque paint, or physically protected from the elements. For added protection against mould, algae and wood boring insects, pre-treat garden wood with Barrettine Universal Preservative or Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver for a similar colour range If protecting the natural colour of the wood is important, use the clear preservative then overcoat with Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra or Fiddes Exterior High Build Wood Oil.

Use outdoors to preserve wooden fences, gates, sheds and for most external wood care tasks including window frames, external doors and door frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine clear wood preserver can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. NOTE: Before overcoating, allow the wood to fully ‘weather’ after applying the preserver. This is especially important for water based paints as the wax contained in the preserver will repel the water and prevent adherence of the paint. The ‘weathering’ process can take several months. Tips Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver protects against wood destroying wet rot, wood boring insects and contains superb quality water repellent resins. With a low odour, this deep penetrating oil/spirit wood preservative is ideal for use on treated and untreated wood and gives a semi transparent finish, which allows the natural wood texture to show through. Suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, Barrettine Wood Preserver does not require over sealing for wood protection so can stand alone. It can also however, be used as a preservative base for overcoating with protective treatments, wood oils and oil based paints or varnishes, for aesthetic purposes (allow for weathering period).
