Among the many highlights are Last Nite with its insistent motown backbeat and choppy johnny thunders-like guitar solo, Barely Legal, sounding like 1980s-era Cure fronted by a saucy Iggy Pop, and the jangly Someday with its hairshirt of vulnerability from a bad break-up. Known for their garage rock revival sound, they quickly gained popularity with their debut album "Is This It" in 2001. But years on, the casual objectification and sexual provocation of the image speaks volumes about the music and fashion scenes at the time, and just how much they have changed. The Strokes' "Is This It" on limited edition vinyl is an essential addition to any music lover's collection. The attention to detail in the packaging, the superb sound quality, and the timeless music make this release a must-have.

The New Yorkers’ kickstarter for the 2000s indie scene spawned numerous singles including 'The Modern Age', 'Someday', 'Hard To Explain', and remains cherished by fans old and new. Mine was added to my collection over 6 years ago when I first started really using discogs to keep track of my collection. The time was ripe for the scratchy, post-punk influenced guitars and throwback basslines of the Strokes, together with their tousled hair and don't-care attitude.

Is This It" remains a modern classic, and hearing it on vinyl adds a whole new dimension to the listening experience. The strokes" have been touted as "the next best thing" and hailed as "The saviours of rock and roll". This version doesn't have "When It Started" like the VMP pressing, but that is the weakest song on the album IMO. The black and white image was shot by Colin Lane, who had been photographing the band in New York prior to the album's release.

The US CD version of the album replaced "New York City Cops" with a newly recorded song, "When It Started", while the vinyl edition retained the original track list. CRX, Different Strokes, Julian Casablancas, Little Joy, Nickel Eye, Regina Spektor, Summer Moon, The Voidz. SUCH a great album I think the "Haves" are severely bloated because they unfortunately made the reissue matrix number so similar. My only complaints are the package feels like it's missing a lyric sheet and I'm not too keen on the vinyl splatter, would've preferred a teal-ish colour to match the cover art. They didn't press more US vinyl copies for several years (there were just the original ~5,000 floating around), but when they did start re-pressing vinyl copies years later, they kept "New York City Cops" and used the same catalog number/bar code as the 2001 vinyl version. With their catchy melodies, raw energy, and stylish image, The Strokes became a leading force in the indie rock scene of the early 2000s. Language - Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description.

Per an interview in 2001/2002 with Julian Casablancas (I read it back then and wish I could find it now), about 5,000 copies were pressed before 9/11 with the song "New York City Cops. The record is a heavy version 150-180 grams I guess, and the front cover has a sticker with black background and "The Strokes" in white letters and "Is This It" in red. From the opening track "Is This It," the warm, rich sound of the vinyl transports you back in time, as if you were sitting in the studio alongside the band during the recording process. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering The Strokes for the first time, this vinyl edition is a true testament to the band's talent and a reminder of why this album remains a classic in the rock genre. When he saw the results — "I knew it was the perfect shot - simple, straightforward, graphic and just so sexy.
