We've had them going eight days now, and I'll be honest I really didn't think we'd get ANYTHING to hatch, as the whole thing sounds very gimmicky. When I added a thermometer to my original aquarium, it also tore away the layout with the nice Aqua Dragons design that is not printed onto the aquarium itself but more for marketing reasons and part of the packaging. The sets are aimed at children aged 6 and if they are going to care for them by them selves but I think that younger ones will still enjoy setting up their habitat if they have some help, our two year old loved it. The instructions packet said to not over feed them, only feeding them every two days, using the provided food.

The instructions were easy to understand however, I would recommend you read the instructions fully before you start as half way through it tells you the water should be bottled not tap!The tank doesn't leak, for what you should use, the food should last week's, and by day eight you'll lose count of how many of these fascinating little creatures there are. Fast forward a week, and both Amelia and Robin are checking on these Aqua Dragons often, looking at them in their little tank. As when the batteries need changing they are on the bottom of the tank and it’s not going to be too easy to change them. Once that is filled make sure it is where you want to keep the tank (no cold spaces, no drafts) and then carefully pour in the packet of eggs.

These animals are not a toy but make a nice science project that may keep you busy for many, many months, if you keep on feeding them and raise new generations, you can make this a hobby. It kept their attention for much longer than I expected and every day they have been checking to see if they have grown and count how many they can see. Their scientific name is Artemia Salinas, and they have been living in the sea and salty lakes for millions of years; right back to the time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! We really enjoyed watching the Aqua dragons grow and I have to say it might of been more for me than the kids but we did all really enjoy it.

It is also possible that they will reproduce in their aquarium meaning you will have aqua dragons for as long as you continue to care for them. Next, they added in the brine shrimp, with Robin convinced they were eggs instead of shrimp that would activate in water due to science.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Caring for your Aqua Dragons you will see them eat, play, grow and learn about the differences between males and females and even how they reproduce. a packet of food, a pipette to aerate the tank, a feeding spoon and a magnifying glass so you can keep an eye on your little dragons.
