I’ve always had a special place in my heart for wilderness survival stories; I remember from a young age wanting to be some combination of Sam Gribely and Billy Coleman. And I know I would have loved a book like Survivors. This is an anthology of true stories of remarkable and impossible survival in the most dangerous wilderness conditions. A helicopter crash in a volcano. A plane crash in the Peruvian jungle. Actually freezing “to death” in Norway. Getting lost in the Sahara. And living off of fish, seagulls, and sharks for four months on the Atlantic Ocean. And they all survived. Mulle tundus, et kõige suuremaks vaenlaseks antud jutustuste puhul oli külm. Beautifully designed collection of true survival short stories covering adventures and mishaps from 1912 (Mawson in Antarctica) to 2014 (spelunker trapped in a cave in Germany). There is a wide variety of settings and a mix of natural disasters and human errors, explorers, adventurers and people just caught in the wrong place and time. Four of the 23 stories feature women.Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments The only problem with this book is that it fails to cite its sources. I have no idea where the author got his facts, and that is really disappointing. I will have to research some of these stories before I feel like I can recommend this book in good conscious. From plane crashes to solitary canyon hikes to scientific expeditions to desert ultramarathons, this book contains an amazing array of brutal and amazing survival stories. The author collected over 20 stories that take place in many places around the world, from various time periods, and with a variety of challenges faced by the survivors.
